A Framework for Treating Sound as Architecture, Not Background
Lighting is designed. Scent is designed. Materials, textures, and sightlines are designed down to the smallest detail. Sound rarely is — most luxury properties default to the same commercial playlists guests hear in malls, airports, and restaurants everywhere else.
Signature Audio Architecture is the practice of designing sound as deliberately as every other sensory element of a property — composed or chosen specifically for the space, tuned to intentional frequencies, and built to support the emotional journey the guest is meant to have. Sound becomes part of the architecture of the experience, working alongside lighting, scent, and materials to create one coherent emotional environment.
THE PROCESS
1. Discovery
Understanding the property's philosophy and the emotional register already built through design, scent, and service — so the sound extends that identity rather than sitting on top of it.
2. Composition
Original music, composed or chosen specifically for the property, using frequency systems selected with conscious intention rather than convention.
3. Implementation
Sound aligned to the moments guests actually move through — arrival, treatment, rest, transition — so the identity feels considered at every point of contact.
4. Evolution
A signature sound identity isn't static. Seasonal refreshes and new programs are opportunities to extend the composition library over time.
THE SCIENCE OF FREQUENCY
Most relaxation music defaults to standard 440Hz tuning simply because that's the industry convention — not because it was chosen. Signature Audio Architecture starts from a different premise: that the frequency itself is part of the design.
Compositions can be built around 432Hz — long associated with a warmer, more grounded listening experience that relieves anxiety — or 528Hz, one of the solfeggio frequencies associated with restoration and motivation. Where it serves the property's philosophy, I also draw on Hans Cousto's Cosmic Octave research, which maps planetary orbital periods onto audible sound, to tune compositions to specific planetary tones that resonate with different chakras and emotions. These aren't decorative details — they're compositional choices, made the same way a lighting designer chooses color temperature.
WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT

The objective is not simply to play better music. It is to design a better auditory wellness experience.
